About the Brand

A L T E R N A – Since 1997, this company has developed premium hair products free of additives or harsh ingredients and has always strived for purity and innovation. Inspired by skincare science, it's products have become well-known in the world of luxury haircare and styling.

Challenge

Build an opportunity for the brand to grow their online business without the dependency of an agency.

Solution

Migrate the site to a subscription service platform that allows the brand to control their own design, marketing and product updates.

  • Shifting to Shopify platform for overall control.

  • Establish a template for a fail-safe design.

  • Modify templates for a more robust, content rich experience.

  • Expand social networking opportunities by adding video to the site.

Result

As expected, sales steadily increased due to the new design. The inclusion of video reels also moved the brand forward into uncharted social media. The e-commerce budget was slashed by as much as 40% in contrast to previous years.

 

Homepage moods could easily be altered with a change in photography to art and lifestyle to product. The simple grid also inspired simple solutions which were brand appropriate when promoting product. 

 

Designing Responsively

Interior pages of the site presented rich content that can easily be updated through a simple management system. Care was taken to ensure legibility across different devices without anyone making additional adjustments.

Different templates allowed marketing varied opportunities for product and editorial content.

 

In Keeping Mobile 

The brand did not have a mobile e-commerce solution and the launch of the site proved these transactions to be a big part of sales.

Since Shopify had simplistic out-of-the-box mobile configuration, modifications were made for design consistency.
