About the Brand

G R A N D  M A R N I E R – Simply a French brand of liqueurs that’s best-known for the Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge line of beverages, an orange-flavored liqueur created in 1880 by Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle. It is made from a blend of Cognac brandy, distilled essence of bitter orange, and sugar.

Challenge

Create video to support the launch of three new flavored beverages hosted by UrbanDaddy at the IAC video wall in New York City.

Solution

This event was the first of two launch parties in New York and Los Angeles. The video wall is the largest in NYC and conceptually had to be experienced in parts since the entire wall could not be observed from one place. The concept would be to split the content into three seamless parts by location, New York, Los Angeles and Paris. This allowed guests to unexpectedly arrive at a new destination while strolling the room.

  • Create a digitally animated scene that’s whimsical, sophisticated and full of atmosphere.

  • Build the animation for subtle changes that won’t distract the event.

  • Ensure the video is lively throughout and long enough so the loop is not noticeable.

Result

The video wall was the highlight for an amazing event that was filled to capacity. The concept of the three themed sections coordinated with the bar placements perfectly. Well received, the event received a huge amount of press that easily elevated the awareness of Grand Marnier’s new line of liquors.

 

Three different locations of New York, Los Angeles and Paris were seamlessly designed to create visual spaces for the guests to discover as they made their way through the party.

Below is a time-lapse that shows the subtle changes in the scenes. This allowed for atmosphere and not a jarring light show.

Details of each city were digitally animated for a whimsical feel which kept the brand and the evening light.
