Challenge
Build a cohesive campaign for a United Nations conference on gun violence. Visiting world leaders will be presented the work of the featured photojournalists.
Solution
Awareness starts with communication and a strategy of various touch points would allow the international press and world leaders to experience the event thoroughly.
Curate an exhibition of the photographer’s work in the UN lobby.
Publish 3 books of the photojournalists’ work as a series on gun violence.
Create material promoting the event through mailers.
Result
The UN lobby exhibition was successfully executed and presented the photography on white flags that were hung from pillars. The flags represented peace while the photos printed on them told the story. Printed collateral promoting the event sold out the shows. Books were handed out as takeaways and a second run of printing was made for those that missed the opportunity.
Three books were published for gun violence awareness. These books covered countries from Guatemala, Iraq and Democratic Republic of Congo to name a few. All photographs were by independent international photojournalists.
White Flags
These canvas flags were hung from the lobby pillars which welcomed visitors and more importantly, the world leaders of the conference. Each photograph had a story to tell and the photographers risked their lives to document the experience.
Printed on canvas, these photographs were produced on a large format high resolution printer.
Coordinated efforts to promote the event were met with full attendance. Printed collateral was used before, during and after the event.
